Hazel was born in the Dropmore area to Joseph and Minnie (nee Shearer) Ferris. She grew up in the area and attended school in Grainsby.
After working in Russell and Winnipeg she married the love of her life, George Bernhard, in 1950.
They farmed for many years before moving to Madge Lake where they spent many more years fishing, hunting and skiing. They also took many trips. In 2005 George passed away. Hazel moved into Kamsack to Davies Towers where she made many good good friends. She took up quilting, playing bingo and having coffee.
Hazel was predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Arnold, and brother Norman. She is survived by sister Mildred Rawlings, Laura Siedlitz, Eva Haas and chosen son and daughter-in-law Ian and Audrey Mack. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sadly missed. She lived one day short of her 92nd birthday!
