Paul Fingas Obituary

On April 6th, 1926 Paul Andrew Fingas was born to Andrew & Lena Fingas at Wordsworth, Saskatchewan.

In 1946 Andrew and Lena moved their family to the Thunder Creek area here in Manitoba.  Paul was twenty at the time. Paul, his brother Joel, and their dad farmed the section together.  Though Paul enjoyed the pampering of his sisters, in 1949 he married Alice Seifert and together they made their home just down the road from his parent’s place.

In October 1950 their daughter Carol was born, and in April 1955 their son Randy.

We heard many stories of the good times Paul had with his friends curling in the winter, fishing and camping with family and close friends during the summer.

In 1978, Paul and Alice moved to the Seifert home place by Inglis. He continued to farm with Randy till they moved to their new apartment in Russell.  Over 70 years of farming and enjoyed every minute of it.

Paul loved to sing! He belonged to the church choir, and to the Barbershop ensemble in the Russell area. Often Alice would hear the music bellowing in the basement. That’s when the headphones came out!

Golfing became a fun sport later in life.  A good deal of time was spent going to different courses throughout the area with his friends.  While golfing out in Vernon with Carol and Richard he hit a hole in one!  The golf club and ball is still displayed in his house in Inglis.  A special moment for sure!

Coffee times…Being the social guy he was, having coffee time in Inglis with his many friends was very important to him, and after moving to Russell he gained many more friends to have coffee with.  Everyone enjoyed his company!

Grampa Paul…Loved his grandkids!  Each and everyone were important to him.  Even after they had all grown up and moved on with their lives, he always wanted to know how they were doing and what they were up to.  If he could help them out in some way he always did.  The great grandchildren started to come around, and being the loving grampa he was, a hug and a place on his knee was always available to them.

Paul leaves his wife Alice of 70 years to remember him, as well as his daughter, Carol (Richard), son Randy (Gayle), grandchildren, David (Elizabeth), Susan (Rob), Kent (Tammy), Craig (Karen), Heidi (Scott), twelve precious great-grandchildren, and sister, Stella Sonnenberg. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Andrew and Lena, brother, Joel (Rita), sisters, Carla (Bob), Luella (Joe), Ruth (Erwin), brother-in-law, William Sonnenberg, his Granddaughter Abby.

We miss you Dad, Grampa, and Great Grampa.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
