Albert Cook of Spy Hill passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2023, at the age of 75 years. Albert was born at the Russell Hospital on November 26, 1947 to Edward & Lillian Cook. Albert grew up on a farm west of Binscarth with his eight siblings. His youth included farmwork, hunting, fishing, curling and baseball; these remained his favourites throughout his lifetime. In 1976, Albert & Norma moved south of Langenburg to raise their family and plant their roots. His working years were filled with mixed farming, custom baling, and backhoe work.
Albert & Norma retired from the farm and moved to Spy Hill in 2016. They quickly settled into the community, making great friends and helping with local projects. The love of farming never left his heart as he made regular trips back to help with chores, repairs, and sometimes… just because. He was never shy to share his knowledge and provide advice.
Everyone knew when they stopped by the house, the coffee pot was always on. Family and friends were always prepared to be the brunt of non-stop teasing, and usually had to hunt for a shoe which delayed them leaving - which was all a part of his plan! When leaving the house, we always heard “Call or text when you make it home” and he was always standing at the window waving goodbye.
Albert’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Norma; Children: Tom (Jenny) Cook, Terry (Kim) Cook, Tyann (Adam) Fletcher; Grandchildren: Daulton (Jessica), Carson (Kate), Sierra, April, Owen; Great-Grandchildren: Kayce, Saylor, Heidi; Siblings: Eva, Johnnie (Sharon), Donna (Evie), Doug (Heather), Sharon, Calvin, Carla (Ken) and a countless amount of nieces and nephews.
In memories we find comfort, in love we find peace.
