Alma Marie Houle (nee Fleury) of St. Lazare, Manitoba, passed away November 3rd, 2024 at Brandon
General Hospital at the age of 73.
Born in Swan River, Manitoba on December 15th, 1950, Alma lived in Mafeking, Manitoba with her mother Lavina Fleury and step-father Nick Dutoff, until she would meet Eddy Houle and marry on May 19, 1967, moving to St. Lazare and raising two sons, Tony and Vince. Working as a cook at Fort Ellice Hotel for many years, her love of cooking and feeding people came to the surface. At home, I think she purposely overcooked, so she could invite more to supper. Alma was also a caregiver/babysitter for several children in the community, a very kind and generous lady who absolutely loved those kids as much as her own. She eventually welcomed 7 grandchildren of her own, Dylan, Madison, MacKenzie, Shyla, Logan, Peyton and Tyson. Seven more to cook for, she was in her glory.
She was predeceased by husband Eddy Houle and mother Lavina Fleury.
Surviving are 2 sons, Tony (Carol), Vinnie (Lavonne), grandchildren Dylan, Madison, MacKenzie, Shyla, Logan, Peyton and Tyson. Brother Dennis Fleury and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
