Emily passed away peacefully on October 13, 2022 at the Sherwood Nursing Home Virden, MB. with her family at her bedside after a courageous battle with cancer.
Emily was born May 29, 1937 in Angusville, MB. and pre-deceased by her mother (Doris Baydak) when she was only 11 years old, father (Peter Olynyk), brother Murray Olynyk, sister-in-law Nellie Olynyk and most recent her daughter Debbie Kiez’s partner Del Stadnyk (2020)
Emily was an active member in her community. In her lifetime, along with husband Tony, they purchased and operated Southside Service & Restaurant and built and managed the E &T Drive Inn (presently Connie’s Drive Inn, Russell.) After selling those 2 businesses, Emily changed course and worked as a Receptionist at Russell Clinic for 10 years. Ultimately, her love for business re-directed her as the proprietor of The Fashion Shoppe Russell until her retirement in 1996.
Emily had many interests but was happiest in her kitchen cooking for family and friends and most notorious for her Perogies and Borscht. She enjoyed playing piano, was an active member with The Royal Purple for 47 years, volunteered at Russell Palliative Care and was a dedicated Lifelong congregant with The Holy Ascension Orthodox Church Angusville, MB.
Emily will always be remembered for her laugh, her talkative and approachable demeanour, and her gardening green thumb.
Emily will be sorely missed by the “Love of her Life” of 67 years husband Tony, daughter Debbie, son Bob (Gwenda), grandchildren Danica Hutlet (Bryden, great grandchildren Boden & Holland), brother Stephen Olynyk (Lillian,) and many family & friends.
Psalm 23.6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
