Anne Gallant Obituary

On Wednesday, April 10 ,1924, Anne’s life journey ended. She passed away peacefully into eternal rest at the St Norbert Personal Care Home.

Anne was predeceased by her parents Alex and Jenny Mazur, her husband Frank and son Lorne, three brothers, Bill, Raymond and Johnny, sisters Gladys and Stella, brother in laws, sister in laws, a niece, and several nephews.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter Val and husband Carl, son Eric, wife Heather and great grand daughters Stella and Sofia, daughter Lindsey, husband Paul and great grandsons Nolan and Declan, daughter in law Lori and her children Kyle, wife Kim, and younger son Colin.  Also left to remember Anne are her sisters Marie and Nellie, sister-in-law Angie, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Anne was born in the Lakedale, Silver Creek District. She was the third child in a family of eight and spent her childhood helping to care for her younger siblings with cleaning and cooking.  Mom and dad grew up as neighbours and after a brief courtship, were married May 11, 1947.  They began their life together as farmers on the Nick Gallant homestead and it was where they raised Val and Lorne.

Mom worked tirelessly on the farm and never complained as it was not in her nature.  She was an avid gardener and took pride in the bounty of her garden, both vegetable and flower.  In the fall there would be lots of canning and preserving to be done.  She was a great cook and a wonderful baker. Some of her specialties included buns, cinnamon buns, pies, and matrimonial cake.  She loved entertaining and feeding people and you never left the Gallant home without a care package. It is what she enjoyed doing.

Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, various art projects, games, and cards.  Canasta was one of the favorite card games that mom and dad enjoyed playing with family and friends.  It provided them with great entertainment during winter nights.

She was active in the Angusville community, and a member of the St. Anthony’s and then St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.  Her faith was very important in her life, and it helped guide her through the many challenges that she faced throughout her journey, especially the loss of her son Lorne, in 2003.

Mom was blessed with four grandchildren and was able to see them start their own journeys in life.  She also got to experience the joy of four great grandchildren, and they brought her such joy and happiness.

After relocating from the farm, Mom and dad lived in Russell.  Mom continued to live there after dad’s passing in 2008, until she was unable to live on her own and in 2016, she relocated to the St. Norbert Personal Care Home, to be closer to Val and family.

We wish to thank the many family members and friends who visited her at the care home over the years, as it brought her such great joy.  We would also like to thank staff at the St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their exemplary care, loving support, and compassion.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
