Armand (Elmer) Boucher passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the Brandon Hospital. He was surrounded with love and support from his wife and family.
Elmer was born at Ste. Madeleine, in 1935, the third child of Joseph and Agnes (Cote) Boucher. When the family moved to the Bittner Place, Elmer attended Gambler School. In 1942, the family moved to the Binscarth area and Elmer attended Baldwin School. He worked with Russell Johnston Construction and then started farming with his father. In 1961, Elmer married Rose Yaskiw and they built a home on their farm across the road from his parents. They had 3 children, Kelley, Michelle and Darcy. Elmer and Rose were grain and cattle farmers for 38 years, first with his dad and then with Harry and Val. At times things were quite tough, but they got through it with hard work and God’s help. Elmer and Rose retired from the farm and moved to Binscarth in 1999.
Sunday was a rest day from farm work. Elmer would spend these days going to church, camping with his family, playing ball, fishing, snowmobiling and having wiener roasts. Hunting, Brandon Fair and rodeo season were enjoyed by Elmer with family and friends.
Family was very important to Elmer. It was very common to have a house full of people, playing cards, eating meals, or just stopping in for tea or coffee.
Community was also very important to Elmer. He was very involved in many organizations and was always willing to contribute his time and expertise.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Agnes, brother Harry, sister Irene, brothers-in-law Donald Sutherland and Albert Dreilich, sisters-in-law Val, Ursel, Marion, Fran, and Annette Boucher.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years Rose, his children Kelley (Brad), Michelle (Dave) and Darcy, his grandchildren Lauren (Brandon), Blair (Chloe), Andrew (Nihar), Garrett (Maddy), Riley Ann (Oliver), and Carter (Mia) and great grandchildren Leah and Logan, brothers George (Thelma ), Bob, Wilf (Shirlene), Jim (Corrie) and sisters Rosalie, Corrine (Rene), Pat, Annette (John), Cathy (Gerry), Anna (Bill), and brother-in-law Ron Wilson and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
We are so grateful for all the years we got to spend with Elmer, Dad, Grandpa, and Papa Elmer. His integrity, kindness, knowledge, wonderful sense of humor and amazing smile will be so missed by his family, friends and community.
