Blanche Elizabeth Falloon of Birtle, Manitoba passed away at Sunnyside Manor P.C.H. in Birtle on July 31, 2020 – one day short of being 104 years old. She was the oldest child born to Ernest and Thurza (Honey) Burdett and was born at home in the Ellice Municipality. She grew up in the Crewe District, attended Foxwarren School, and went to Zion Church. In 1938 she married William George (Bill) Falloon and they raised three children – Carman, Joyce, and Joan. They farmed in the Gambler District and in 1943 moved to the Tom Edmundson farm near Birtle where they stayed until retirement. They purchased a home on Kent Street in Birtle and moved to town in 1980. After Bill passed away, Blanche remained in the house until 2004 when she moved to Pioneer Lodge in Birtle. In 2018 she moved to the Transitional Unit in Birtle and in April 2020 she was transferred to Sunnyside P.C.H.
Blanche was a remarkable lady and had a great sense of humor and a keen mind until the last. She always had a smile on her face. There were many fond memories of her life on the farm. The grandchildren loved visiting and receiving the special treats she had to offer.
Being community minded, she was involved in several organizations-family 4-H activities, Birtle Drop-In-Centre, Birtle AG Society Fair, U.C.W., W.I. and Pioneer Lodge Auxiliary.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Bill Falloon in 1995; parents Ernest and Thurza Burdett; Bill’s parents George and Norma Falloon; granddaughter Kelly Bailey; grandsons Dennis Peacock, Roger Falloon and Al West; sisters Edith (Gordon) Miller and Pearl (Dick) Clunie; brothers Arthur (Kay) Burdett and Earl (Helen) Burdett.
