Brian Attwood "Woody" Langford

Woody (Brian Attwood) Langford of Birtle, Manitoba, (age 78) died December 10, 2023 at the Russell Health Center. He was born February 24, 1945, in Russell, Manitoba to parents Ted and Peg Langford.

Woody spent his childhood in Russell and went on to attend university in Calgary and Winnipeg, eventually becoming a lawyer. He met Kathy Perrin in 1974 and they moved to Birtle in 1980 where he began his law practice. Their son Nathan was born in 1985. Nate shared his dad’s love of cooking, the Habs, and life. Nate’s caring and love shone bright in the last few weeks of Woody’s life.

Woody was known far and wide for his kindness, generosity, free spirit, and his unique way of being. His clients knew him as an honest and compassionate advocate for their legal needs. Nothing made him happier than a cruise in his convertible or a trip around town on his golf cart, even if it was -20 C. He was a loyal supporter of local sport and of his community. He loved the colour red, and he loved hats. He was always on the search for a new t-shirt design he could screen print in the Angusville room. He loved Larry’s sausages and New Hong Kong dim sum. He loved a good party and a good hockey game. He loved to share his favourite things with his friends, like windsocks and his favourite cake. Woody touched many people’s lives, and the world is better place for having him in it.

He is predeceased by his parents Ted and Peg Langford, and his sister Linda Wanner. He is survived by his son Nathan Langford (Cara), sister Francey Langford, brother Jamie Langford ( Marianne), Kathy Langford and numerous other friends and family.

A celebration of Woody’s life will be held at a later date.
