Carman Falloon was born on September 28, 1939 in Russell Hospital. His parents were Bill and Blanche Falloon and he had two younger sisters – Joyce and Joan. Before he went to school the family moved from west of Foxwarren to the Birtle area, where they farmed for many years. When his parents retired to live in Birtle, Carman took over their land as well as farming his own.
On July 20, 1963 Carman married Laura Hills of Foxwarren. They raised three children – Roger, Sheryl, and Sandra. Laura was a teacher.
Carman loved farming and especially raising Maine-Anjou cattle. He showed his cattle at different fairs. In 2005 he and another person from the Maine-Anjou office in Calgary were chosen to attend the large cattle show in Sao Paulo, Brazil and to promote Maine Anjou cattle. Laura went along too. This show was very different from the shows here and the cattle were different.
Carman had been on the Maine-Anjou board in Calgary and was president for a term. He had been a member of the Oddfellows Lodge at Foxwarren, was on the Pool Elevators board, served on the Foxwarren Fat Stock Show committee, and was on the Birtle Drop In Centre board in the past.
As a result of a heart attack in 2011 he had to sell his purebred and full blood Maine-Anjou cattle. Most of these were sold to another Maine-Anjou breeder in Ontario.
Carman belonged to the Birtle 4H calf club when he was old enough to join. This club was led by his dad, Bill Falloon, and Harold Salmon helped. 4H was very important to Carman. Garry Workman and he led the Foxwarren-Solsgirth 4H Beef Club for many years. Carman won a trip to Toronto as a result of his 4H work. His children – Roger, Sheryl, and Sandra belonged to the club and showed cattle.
In 1981 Carman and Laura took the whole family on a trip to the British Isles and Northern Ireland. They visited relatives in these areas. In later years they travelled to different places through CAA conducted trips. Also they travelled to Texas to visit their daughter and family several times. They made trips to Calgary, Vancouver, and Prince Rupert.
Carman passed away from a heart attack at home on Thursday, October 2, 2025
