Darlene Marie Yont (Hiller) was born on February 8th 1946 in Russell MB. Darlene (a twin) was the youngest of 6 siblings (4 boys and 2 girls) of George and Mary Hiller.
Darlene attended school in Russell and spent many long hours working in the family restaurant “Hiller’s Café”.
On May 2, 1964 she married the love of her life Stanley Yont and moved to Marchwell, SK to start their life together.
Shortly after getting married Darlene starting working at Holowaty’s clothing store in Langenburg.
They were blessed with their first child Tracey on May 25, 1968. Two years later she gave birth to Sheri on October 4, 1970. Bruce was born on November 22, 1973 to complete their loving family.
Darlene had a true passion for retail and decided to open her own clothing store which she named Darlene’s Clothesline” in 1981. Her little store on main street brought allot of joy to Darlene, one of most her favorite things was creating emergency gifts for those husbands that desperately need a gift for their wives. Following her career as an entrepreneur, Darlene started working at Roly’s Grocery Store and then completed a 15 year working career as a Dietitian Aide at the Langenburg Centennial Care home.
Darlene’s true love was her family, she adored her 3 children and their partners, her 8 grandchildren were her pride and joy and recently became even prouder with the addition of her first great grandchild.
Darlene liked to stay busy, whether it was working outside in her garden or inside her house, she love baking apple pies and chocolate chip cookies with her grandkids. If she wasn’t working in her home you could find her volunteering her time at the church basement sale, volunteering her time gave her the opportunity to catch up with the ladies.
Darlene was diagnosed with cancer in January 2024. Choosing not to pursue treatment and live life on her own terms. Darlene remained in her home until the need arose for her to require extra care and move into respite at the end of June.
We as a family believe Dad’s sudden passing was a direct result of a broken heart and not his health condition. After 60 years of being together their love for one another was now eternal.
Darlene and Stan are survived by their children, grandchildren and a great grandchild; Tracey (Boyd), Ryder, Chase Haas; Sheri (Paul), Colton (Abbey), Geena and Karlee Screpnek; Bruce (Alicia), Taylor (Tristen), Great Grand-daughter Lainey, Calem, Holden Yont. Brother Ellis Yont, sister Heather Polowich, brother in law Derry Dowd (Shirley) and many nieces and nephews.
They join in heaven, Darlene’s parents George and Mary Hiller, Brothers Clarence (Rose), Mervin (Anita), Gordon (Donna), Doug (Joan), and sister Marilyn Tice (Phil); Stan’s parents Henry and Eileen Yont, sister Myrna Dowd, brother in law Stan Polowich and sister in law Lorraine Yont.
