Don Vermeersch Obituary

Donald “Don” Thomas James Vermeersch of Langenburg, SK passed away peacefully November 7, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born on August 7, 1955 and was raised on the family farm. He went to school at Morning Glory until its closure in 1963, at which point he finished his education at Langenburg High School, graduating in 1973.

He worked on the oil rigs for several years, before joining IMC (renamed Mosaic later) in 1980, where he worked until his retirement. He married Sharon Wolfram in 1981, and they started a family with four sons.

Don was a very active member of the community. He enjoyed chatting and spending time with numerous friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to go camping and host get-togethers with friends in the backyard by the fire pit. He played many sports including baseball, broomball, golfing, curling, bowling, football, pickleball and cribbage. He had a passion for coaching and mentoring youth in sports, making a huge positive impact on many.

Being part of the Canadian Legion was always important for him, as a memory and tribute to his Uncle Raymond who died fighting in World War 2. He and Brian Ingjaldson ran the organization for many years.

He was a proud supporter of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Nationals, as well as an avid curling fan.

Don is predeceased by his parents Alfonse and Frances (Dutka) and his older brother Lorne. His family to mourn and celebrate his life include his wife Sharon, his sons Christopher (Sherry), Nathan, Dillon and Landon, grand daughters Amaya and Braylee, brothers Ray (Janet) and Jim (Heather), along with many other relatives.

He will be missed by many for his endless conversations and dry and wry humour.
