Donald “Don” Alexander Melnyk of Churchbridge, Saskatchewan passed away March 24, 2022 at his home at the age of 70 years.
Don was born December 4, 1951 in Roblin, Manitoba. He was the youngest child of 4, grew up and attended school in Togo and Kamsack, Saskatchewan. On July 14, 1973 he married the love of his life Geraldine. They had 3 sons. He worked at the mine as a journeyman electrician until he had his stroke at 47.
He was mayor and councilor for the town of Churchbridge. He coached ball and hockey and enjoyed golfing. He was always involved in the community. And his passion was his hobby of making Ukrainian Easter Eggs (Pisanka). That along with doing puzzles and word searches were what he enjoyed until his passing.
Don was predeceased by his parents Max and Jean Melnyk, his brothers Peter and Ronald, sister-in-law Agnes Melnyk, father-in-law David Pfeifer, brother-in-law Wayne Pfeifer and niece Tammy Pfeifer. Surviving are his wife Geraldine, 3 sons Jared (Keri), Dustin (Nikki) and Darren (Jenilee), 5 grandchildren Kadeance, Brady, Boston, MaKenzie and Ryder. Also surviving are his mother-in-law Ruth Pfeifer, brother-in-law Glenn Pfeifer, sister Iris Smellie, sister-in-law Marilyn (Dexter) Staub, sister-in-law Cindy (Bob) McGregor and many nieces and nephews.
