Don passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 19, 2025.
Don is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, of 62 years with whom he built his life and family. Don was father to Paula (Barry) Popick and Pat Wyand of Regina. Grandfather to Courtney (Matt) Murray and their children Hannah and Harper, and to Tyler (Shelby) Popick and their daughter Lainey. Uncle to Donna (Dale) Cole, JoAnne (Brian) Guillemin and Sandra Jackson.
He is predeceased by his parents Willard and Annie Wyand of Kisby; parents in law Roy and Marion Black; brother James Allan Jackson and sister-in-law Margret Jackson; son Ronald Allan Wyand; and nephew Shaun Allan Guillemin.
Don graduated from high school in Kisbey, SK. He attended the University of Saskatchewan, College of Agriculture. He completed his doctorate through the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Guelph, ON. He went on to have a respected career as a veterinarian in SK, MB and ON. He had an easy empathetic nature for the caregivers of the animals he treated, and he cared for all creatures great and small, as part of his mixed practice. He was an active life time member of the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association and played various roles including President.
He and his family moved to Langenburg in 1971 where he embraced life in the community for 54 years and actively served on town council in various capacities, acted for several terms as Mayor, and assisted on multiple committees and boards. He was also a volunteer for palliative care in Langenburg.
He was a devoted son, husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He loved, cared for and supported his family including the many individuals he worked with over the years who he also considered as family.
He will be greatly missed.
