Donald "Don" Pomieto Obituary

Donald Edward Pomieto was born in Langenburg Community Hospital to Stephen (Steve) and Pauline Pomieto (Gensoriek) on March 27, 1947. After a painful 2 year battle with diabetes, he passes away peacefully on Monday January 12, 2026, at the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home at the age of 78 years.

He attended school for 8 years and decided it was not for him. Worked with his father and mother on the family farm until the age of 17. Then he decided he liked the idea of working out.

On September 17, 1964, he found employment with K2-IMC Potash Mine as a construction worker. He then graduated to work as a miner between K1 and K2 in production until 1970. Since 1970 he was employed by PCS Potash (Nutrien) Rocanville production then moving into supervisory position where he had a crew of 20 men until 2014 when medical issues forced his retirement after 45 years. The hobby farm as he called it turned into full time farming.

Donald married the love of his life Frances Pacholko on August 15, 1981 in the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. They purchased a home in Langenburg and continued farming while Frances was a full-time home maker until her passing on September 7, 2000. Again, medical issues forced Don to quite farming. On September 27, 2024 he moved into the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home then transferred to Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home until his passing.

Donald was predeceased by his sister Annie (1978) Father Stephen (1980) loving wife Frances (2000), Mother Pauline (2015) and brother Jerome (Jerry) (2018).

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory sister Betty and husband Clifton Hinrikson (Sherwood Park AB), Sister in-law Betty-Ann Pomieto, Nephew Colin, partner Brittany, children Kale, Ryker, Oakley and Odessa. Niece, Nicole Pomieto, daughter Melissa and Jasimine, all of Langenburg. Niece, Shauna husband Irvin Bueckert, (Winnipeg), Nephews James and Sheldon Popoff (Beausejour MB)
