Donalda Mushumanski Obituary

With love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Donalda (Donnie) Mushumanski at the remarkable age of 102.

Born on May 29, 1924, in the RM of Silver Creek, Donnie was the youngest of four daughters to Charlie and Polly Hyra. Prairie dances were the heart of community life, and she and her sisters often walked miles to enjoy the music and company. It was at one of those dances that she met Stanley Mushumanski, who offered her a ride home on horseback-a simple moment that became the beginning of a lifelong partnership. They were married on May 9, 1943.

Together, they raised three children-Verna, Maryon, and Rodney. After their first home burned down, they lived for a time in a granary before settling into their permanent home on the northeast corner of Silverton, built on the very spot where Donnie had once attended school. She took great pride in that home and especially in its yard, tending it faithfully and still cutting her own grass well into her 90s. Her large garden, complete with her beloved poppies, was a source of joy and care year after year.

Reaching 102 meant she outlived many dear to her. She is now reunited with her husband Stanley, her son Rodney, her parents Charlie and Polly Hyra, and her sisters Margaret Burgunder, Annie Stefanishyn, and Stella Pushka.

She is survived by her daughter Verna; her son Maryon (Margaret); her daughter-in-law Paulette; her grandchildren Ryan (Liann), Dayna (Cory), Lisa (Tyrel), Raylene (Trevor), Ashley (Paul), and Kelly (Katherin); and her great-grandchildren Easton, Ella, Miller, Jack, and Charlie.

Her life was long, full, and well lived. May her memory continue to guide us, comfort us, and remind us of the strength she carried through all her days.
