Doreen was born in Russell, Manitoba in June of 1936 to Dave and Ivy McKinnon. She grew up in the hills of the Assiniboine Valley near Millwood. Her days were spent helping her mom and dad on the farm, riding her horse (often accompanied by her dog) and playing with her siblings and cousins.
After graduation she became a telephone operator in Neepawa before heading to NW Ontario to take a position there. It was here that she met Clifford who she married in 1958. They returned to Millwood in 1967 where they took over the family farm. Mom continued as a telephone operator and later as a bus driver.
Doreen and Clifford had 3 children, Calvin, Lyn (Randy) Tye and Dawn (Ed) Darr. She was a loving Grandma to James (Courtney), Charlie, Abigail (Michael), Justin (Ashley) and Katey (Kadin). Great Grandma to Audrey and Steele.
Our mother was predeceased by her parents, her sister Elaine, brother-in-law Al, as well as her husband Cliff. She leaves to mourn her 3 kids and their spouses, 5 grandkids and their spouses, 2 great grandchildren, her sister Emily (Jim) Wondrasek, her brother Bryan (Linda) McKinnon, sister-in-law Elsie and numerous nieces and nephews.
We imagine that heaven will now be well organized, neat, tidy and covered in Saran Wrap.
You are safe now. Spread your wings mom—Ride those horses, Listen to the music, Dance the night away and last but not least Smile and Laugh!
Rest in Peace Mom, you deserve it.
