Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mom, grandma and great grandma, Edith Thickett, on March 21, 2023 at the age of 93 years.

Mom is survived by her loving children, Allan (Gloria), Linda (Fred); her grandchildren, Lesia (Foy), Kristina, Alexis, and five great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Jim (1990) to whom she was married for 42 wonderful years, her parents Gladys and William, her grandson Lanny and her sister Dorothy.

Mom was a happy, kind, giving, grateful, very hard working, truly selfless person. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In Mom’s younger days she was a teacher at Brightside School in Russell and afterwards worked on the family farm until her retirement in 1992. She loved to garden (she had one of the largest gardens around). She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was always volunteering in the community or church. Mom’s Anglican faith was very important to her and it helped her cope with many hardships in her life. Mom was a breast cancer survivor and had suffered from dementia for a number of years.

Mom lived at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home, supportive living, from 2015. We would like to thank all of Mom’s caregivers, for the excellent care that they gave her.

Our hearts are broken, but it is time for you Mom to fly with the angels.
