Edwin Paulson Obituary

Edwin Oliver Paulson, affectionately known as Ed or Eddie to many of his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at the age of 89, surrounded by his family at home — just as he had always wished.

Born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, Ed was the third of six children — five boys and one girl. He grew up helping on the family blacksmithing farm and working local farming jobs. At just 17, he ventured north to work at Gunner Mines near Uranium City, and later joined the Department of Natural Resources as a game warden, traveling across the province. It was during this time that his lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and the outdoors took root.

Ed met the love of his life, Agnes (Buchberger), while they were both working at Kenosee Lake. They married in 1960 and returned to Rose Valley, where Ed apprenticed as an electrician while starting a family. He later returned to school to earn his Journeyman Electrician certification, and in 1968, the family relocated to Langenburg, settling on Agnes’s family farm. Ed went on to work for IMC Potash Canada as an electrician for 31 years.

After retirement, Ed’s days were filled with the simple pleasures he loved most — fishing, tending the yard and garden, teaching his grandkids how to drive a quad, jeep, or snowmobile, tinkering in his shop rebuilding tractors, and crafting intricate scroll saw and intarsia projects. He proudly displayed his creations and loved showing them off to anyone who stopped by for a visit. Ed was always ready for a good conversation, eager to lend a hand, and happiest when surrounded by family or out in nature.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Agnes, children RaeAnn Ernst (Dave), Rod (Angie), Jody Fowler (Peter), Greg (Fiona), and Jim (Tracy); grandchildren Bryce, Jacie, Jeremy, Caleb, Maddy, and Rachel; sister Agnes Njaa (Selmer); sisters-in-law Lana Paulson and Theresa Polnicky; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his son Randy, and his brothers Clarence, Ernie, Gordie, and Vern.
