Elva Thompson Obituary

Mom was born September 11, 1931 in Russell, Manitoba, the second daughter of George and Mary Woodhouse.  She received her primary education at Jellicoe school then attended Binscarth High School.  After graduation she took a stenographer course at Success Business College in Winnipeg then worked for a real estate and mortgage company in the city for a short time.  She moved back to Binscarth when she married our Dad, John Thompson on August 16, 1952.  They lived on the family farm and had four children, Fred, Barb, Sherri and Kathy.  Mom was actively involved with the Russell and District Horticulture Society for many years as well as helping out with 4H and the United Church.  She took great pride in her garden and yard and they were awarded a trophy in 1988 for their home grounds.  Mom continued to live on the farm after Dad passed away in 2004.  In 2013 she moved to the Stratford Apartments in Russell and then relocated to Riverheights Terrace in Brandon where she was residing when she passed away peacefully on January 20.  Mom was predeceased by her husband John, her brothers Ernie and Jack, sisters-in-law Jessie Woodhouse and Beatrice Goldthorpe and brothers-in-law Warren Thompson and Murray Falloon.  She is survived by her sister Elsie and brothers Allan (Bonnie), Harold (Pat), sisters-in-law Helen Woodhouse, Jean Thompson, and Marie (Stan) Gossen, her children Fred (Donalda), Barb, Sherri (Curtis), Kathy (Guy), grandchildren Jim (Krista), Mike (Tanya), Celeste (Kyle), Rhéanne (Jon), Rhys and Bryn, great grandchildren Josh, Ryder, Tristan, Thea, Sophie, Kasen, Lakynn, Coven, and Josie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
