It is with great sadness that the Wizniuk family announces the passing of Faye Roberta (Tisdale) Wizniuk on March 29, 2024. How does one capture the free spirit that made up the full character of Faye, as she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many. Faye’s compassion and loyalty to friends and family was unwavering as she was the most loyal person you could ever have in your corner!
Faye was adventurous and for 56 years she was a devoted, loyal wife and friend to Richard Wizniuk. She was a loving sister to Diane (Bill) Lester, Wilfred (Jean) Tisdale, Mary (Gordon) Lawerence, Sister-in-law to Julie Soroko and Donald Wizniuk. She was also a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Auntie, Great Aunt and a good friend to many. She is predeceased by Father Clifford Tisdale and her Mother Elizabeth (Boyer) Tisdale, her brothers Kim and Harold along with her sister-in-law Rhonda, and her first born daughter Teresa Wizniuk, her brother- in-law Wayne Wizniuk and Sister- in- law Gloria Wizniuk as well as Father and Mother-in-law- Steve and Lila Wizniuk. So, wherever she is going, she will be in good company!
Faye grew up in Estevan, SK and had many fond memories to share about her family and friends. She loved her family with her whole heart, forever cherishing the strong relationships she had with her sisters and brothers. Faye had an eye for adventure, and in 1968 she found just that, as she fell in love. Faye met and married the love of her life in November 1968, taking on a new role as a wife to Richard! She arose to challenges that face all newly wed couples starting their families and persevered through all the storms life brought her way. Faye became a mother in 1969 as she welcomed the birth of her first daughter Teresa. She excelled in being a good mother! So much so that Faye welcomed her second daughter, Lorelie, in 1972. She had a special connection with each of her girls. Somehow she always seemed to know how to provide comfort and support with her soft encouraging words of wisdom. As time passed, Faye watched as her family grew. She was incredibly proud to become a grandmother and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.
Faye was an adventurous Gal, so naturally, she decided to take up motorcycling! Faye enjoyed taking her girls on road trips, seeking new adventures with her family. Over Faye’s 72 years on earth, she lived in many different communities and 3 provinces. Faye and Richard designed and built two new homes without contractors and renovated 5 homes together. Her infectious laugh drew attention and invited all to join in, resulting in strong friendships in every community she visited and lived in. These were just a few things she did over the course of her 72 years, with her one constant being the love of her husband and family. She adored Richard and was proud to be married to him for 56 years. It is rare to find a partner to dance through life with, and they had a bond few can match. Faye and Richard always danced together at local events, often receiving compliments when elegantly gliding around the room when dancing a Viennese Waltz, or a Polka.
Faye worked hard at a variety of places over the years. She was well suited for the hospitality industry as her bubbly disposition was well received by most people. She returned to school, attended training sessions in various cooking methods, and received her provincial Red Seal registered throughout Canada. Faye was a waitress, bartender, cook, as well as filling other service work over the course of her 72 years. She was most proud of her experience with attaining her Red Seal in cooking. To say that Faye was a hard worker is an understatement. She faced every task with determination and perseverance.
Faye brought an aura of light and kindness to all she met, her love for others always guiding her steps, she volunteered in every community she lived in. She volunteered at schools, always willing to help in community events baking, cooking, sharing her time and energy to help others. Faye was an active team member as she played ball, bowled and curled. Faye participated in local tournaments with her husband and friends, bringing her love of sports and social gatherings to every game.
In Prince Albert, SK. She played a great role in starting the yearly annual supper and entertainment day for the elderly presented by the Prince Albert and District labour council at the Union centre. Faye was an active member of the community and took an interest in politics, she assisted with the election of Federal MPs and Provincial MLAs in two different Provinces. Faye stood by her husband and helped him to be elected to the Local City Council Politics and Labour Union positions. Faye was proud of her Metis heritage; she volunteered and was elected to the secretary treasurer position of the Sudbury Metis council for a number of years. She became secretary to many community and political groups. In recent years Faye shared her time with the Sunshine Ladies group in Preeceville, SK and made many new friends along the way. She enjoyed playing cards at the senior’s center and meeting new people. Faye was always a ray of sunshine in the lives of all that knew her. Faye was born with a greatness in her soul that allowed her to give of herself to so many people in so many ways.
Faye was looking forward to continuing her travel adventures with Richard as they were planning to go on the Rhine River Cruise later this year. The memories that Faye and Richard shared were priceless. They had already traveled across all of Canada together greeting old friends and making new ones. They had many adventures throughout the United States where they had met many new friends and visiting life long friends. They travelled to Cuba, Faye loved their trip as the cultural aspects and history interested her greatly. They spent 6 weeks in Europe and visited Germany, Holland, and Switzerland. With side trips to Liechtenstein, Austria, Belgium, Luxemburg, and France. They spent several months exploring eastern Australia and Hawaii making new memories together.
Sadly, on March 27, 2024 Faye was involved in a motor vehicle collision north of her home near Churchbridge, SK which eventually took her life. Words can never describe the incredible loss we all are feeling. Her spirit will live on in her family and many friends. Faye always had a warm smile to share and she gave the world’s best hugs ever! Her husband travelling just ahead of her, he was the first person on the scene to comfort Faye.
The Wizniuk family would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the first responders of the Churchbridge and Langenburg area, and to the Yorkton hospital ICU nurses and doctors for their unwavering dedication to patient care and taking care of Faye. Thank you all for keeping Faye comfortable so that relatives could attend at bedside from Saskatchewan and Ontario. Although we were not prepared to say goodbye…here we are!
Faye was surrounded by the people she loved. The hospital room was filled with love and family. Faye fought to stay with us until her daughter Lorelie (Rick) Legree, and granddaughter Nicole Wizniuk arrived from Ontario. At the last moments of Faye’s life, she was embraced by her husband Richard, and her only living daughter Lorelie who held her mom’s hand both expressing their love to a wonderful mother, wife and personal friend. At that time the ICU personnel were instructed to let Faye peacefully pass on from this world. She gently slipped away from us at 15 minutes past midnight on March 29, 2024. All Relatives present at the Yorkton ICU were given private moments alone with Faye prior to her passing to express their love. These included Daughter Lorelie, Son-in-law Rick Legree of Marathon Ont., Sisters Diane Lester, and Mary Lawrence with husband Gordon, of Estevan SK., grandson Damien Mills, granddaughters Shelby Mills, and Jessica Harris, of Saskatoon Sk, and Nicole Wizniuk of Thunder Bay, Ont. Dustin Mills was unable to make it to the hospital before Faye passed on, however, Faye knew his love for her and knew the love we all had in our hearts for her. She is forever loved and greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Faye truly was a human angel on this earth. She definitely earned her golden wings!
Faye lived a life full of love, surrounding herself with the most important people in her life. As your daughter I will forever wear a smile on my face when I think of you. Till we meet again I know you will be guiding and watching over us. Thank you for being my best friend right till the end, I promise to find you in the next life Mom! -Lorelie Legree
Faye’s unconventional spirit and life deserves a farewell as unique as she was, so her legacy won’t be confined to a conventional funeral service. We will have a night of colourful celebration held on July 13th at the Painted Hand Casino Event center at 1:00 pm in Yorkton SK. So, bring your dancing shoes and prepare to help celebrate Faye’s life and legacy.
