Gordon "Frosty" Frieze Obituary

It is with profound sadness and grieving hearts that we share the sudden passing of Gordon Edward Frieze, known to many as “Frosty.” Gordon was born to Edward and Shirley Frieze on July 4, 1962 in Russell where he was raised and lived most of his life.

Gordon was always surrounded by family and friends and he lived his life to the fullest. Although he was faced with many challenges, he woke up grateful every day with a smile on his face and was ready to take on any obstacle he encountered. His positive approach to living his life with strength and resilience set a powerful example for everyone who knew him.

In 1985 Gordon met Brenda Kreshewski and soon after they welcomed Melony Dawn. They were married in 1987. Two years later Stephanie Rachel was born and their family was complete. Gordon loved his girls with his whole heart and loved spending time with them whenever he could. When his grandchildren Quinn, Jaxon, Gavin, and Easton were born he was living his best life following their skating, swimming, ball, hockey, and watching them grow.

Gordon loved all people, and visiting with anyone he ran into throughout his day gave him great joy. His job at Russell Redi-Mix Concrete gave him the opportunity to meet many new people from all over, and he was very proud to be a part of this company.

His love for the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and camping along with hockey, baseball, broomball, skidooing, quadding, boating, and travelling carries on through his grandchildren. His greatest joy was sharing these passions with Brenda, his children, and grandchildren, especially summers spent together at their spot at the lake. A day of pulling kids behind the boat was always one of the best days for him, whether it was his own kids, grandkids or anyone else who dared to ride behind him.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Shirley Frieze, his mother and father-in-law Bill and Lorraine Kreshewski, and his uncle Freddie Frieze. He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughters Melony Frank and Stephanie (Troy) Chwaluk, and grandchildren Quinn, Jaxon, Gavin, and Easton. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law Barry (Jean) Kreshewski and Robert (Taralee) Kreshewski, sister-in-law Teresa (Darcy) Fiel, aunt Madge Frieze, uncle Bert Frieze, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved spending time with.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 2:00p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church. The Grace Lutheran Church holds a special place in the hearts of Gordon’s family, as it is the church Gordon and Brenda were married in, where they spent many Sundays with Gordon’s dad, Eddie, and where Gordon and Brenda’s daughters and grandchildren were baptised.

Interment will be at the Russell Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Curtis Bell, Lloyd Jones, Tom Jackson, Danny Vinnell, Dean Vinnell, and Brent Lungal. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn and Mary Lang, and his crew of friends from Russell Redi-Mix.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hartney School Playground and the Shoal Lake School Playground, honoring Gordon’s love for his grandchildren and the outdoors.

With great love comes great grief. Our hearts are broken and we will miss you every day forever, Papa! We know you will be watching over us, with Grandpa Eddie and all of our loved ones by your side, cheering us on in everything we do.

Years ago Gordon posted a quote on the fridge that said, “I would rather look back at my life and say, ‘I can’t believe I did that!’ instead of ‘I wish I would have done that’.” It’s safe to say that this clearly defines Gordon and the way he lived his life.

The gift of peace is now yours Gordon… Dad… Grandpa. Our loss is immeasurable but so is the love you left behind. We love you.

Brenda, Melony, Stephanie, Troy, Quinn, Jaxon, Gavin, Easton
