I was born in Russell, Manitoba to Jim and Margaret Bily. I had 3 siblings Robert, Joan and Arla.
Our farm was located in Ingleside on Sec 10-20-30-1. From grade 1-9 I went to Ingleside School, later Langenburg High School.
After grade 12, I went farming with my father and farmed until I was 65 years old. During the farm days I also drove the school bus for 13 years. When I was driving the school bus I used to stay in town sometimes and engage in pool games, those were good times!
I was married to my love, Bonnie Fieseler, in 1967 and was lucky to have two girls Susan and Lana. In 1967, we moved to Russell, MB and farmed from there as Bonnie worked at the Russell Hospital. In the winter, I looked after the Russell Curling Rink for several years and stayed on as a part time bus driver. I started to curl when I was 12 years old and continued for 70 plus years, such great memories!
After I retired, I started to do a lot of golfing and bowling. I served my time on the Curling Rink, United Church, Golf Club and Leisure Centre boards, while in Russell. I was also part owner of the bowling alley in Russell, of which we sold years later. Bridge, whist and cribbage were always a big part of my enjoyment of games. I went to play pool and bridge at the Leisure Centre. Later on I started to play Bridge at friend’s houses and online. Some friends moved away that we played Bridge with all the time.
I loved to garden and helped Susan (Ty) and Lana (Cory) with their yards to pass the time. I had the odd coffee at the Chicken Chef and went on many trips. The trips included Hawaii (many times), Florida, Mexico, Australia, Cuba and later went to Arizona during the winter months with friends. We also traveled to watch many baseball games over the years.
I have two grandchildren Maya and Jake, the light of my life!
My life was GREAT and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world!
