Harold Schrader, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Russell, Manitoba.
Harold was a quiet, gentle soul, one of those rare people whose presence felt steady, comforting, and wise. He didn’t speak loudly or often, but when he did, his words were thoughtful, kind, and worth listening to. He had a soft voice and a warm heart, and those who knew him knew just how special that combination was.
He was married to the love of his life, Mary, who predeceased him 18 years ago. Their bond was strong and enduring, and Harold loved sharing stories of the many travel adventures they enjoyed together in their younger years, memories that always brought a sparkle to his eyes.
Harold was a devoted stepfather to children he loved as his own: William (predeceased), Florence, Betty, Bernice, Judy, Rita (predeceased), and Lori. He was also deeply cherished by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved spending time with him and will forever treasure the moments they shared.
A man of many talents, Harold had a true gift for woodworking. His beautifully crafted wood patio furniture stands as a lasting testament to his skill, patience, and pride in creating things by hand. He also loved fishing and reading, finding peace and joy in life’s simple pleasures.
Harold worked for the Town of Russell for many years and was a familiar, friendly face in the community, someone everyone seemed to know and admire. He was well-loved, well-respected, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His life was one of quiet strength, kindness, and love, a legacy that will live on through the many lives he touched.
