Born and raised in Minitonas, where Irene graduated from high school, and then onto Teacher’s College in Brandon to earn her teaching degree. Her first teaching job was at St. Lazare, MB and after four months into her job married Gordon December 24, 1970. They raised their children on their farm in Makaroff.
In her life she enjoyed gardening, crafting and knitting, playing games and cards, reading books, watching hummingbirds at her window, cooking at Madge Lake Bible Camp, volunteering with multiple organizations such as Makaroff 4H Club, Roblin Evangelical Mission Church, Roblin Hospital Auxiliary, The Gideons, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Roblin Branch 44 as the padre. She did bookkeeping, made quilts for her grandchildren, and shared her knowledge of cooking, baking, and gardening. With Gordon by her side, she got the opportunity to travel to Zambia, Israel, Arizona and Germany. We will cherish all the amazing memories we have of Irene.
Through all her life she loved her Saviour the Lord Jesus who she depended on right up until her last day. She taught her family to follow the Lord and everything was secondary to that.
