It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a special man, Jack Melnyk
Jack was born on June 20, 1936 to Zachar and Annie Melnyk in the R.M. of Silver Creek.
He was raised on the family farm in his early years and started his academic career at Lima School. The family moved to Angusville and he continued his education at Angusville School. The family moved back to the farm after ten years.
After school Jack went to work on the family farm but he wanted to try urban life and moved to Brandon MB. He went to work in Brandon at Canada Safeway. After about a year Jack returned to the farm, his true calling.
In 1959 he married Anne Berehulka and they started farming north of Angusville. They were blessed with three children – Bryan, Wally and Ronnie.
Jack and Anne enjoyed outings attending many community events. Going for country drives, going to town on Saturday nights. Playing cards with friends in the winter and going to fairs and festivals in the summer. They liked to travel and their ultimate trip was to Ukraine where Jack met many family members he had never seen before.
Jack and Anne retired and moved to Russell MB in 2003 where they lived until his passing.
He passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the early hours of March 15, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 88 years.
Jack will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years Anne. Sons Bryan (Charlene) Wally (Bren) and Ron (Cheryl) Grandchildren Parker, Quinn, Brody, Maryssa and Katelyn, his brother Roy (Shirley) and his brother-in-law Walter Berehulka.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Zachar and Anne Melnyk, his sister Donnie Marie who died as an infant. He was also predeceased by his in-laws Joseph and Mary Berehulka.
Today we gather to share in our good memories, thoughts and prayers for Jack and his family . He will be sadly missed by everyone.
