Born on the plains / Spy Hill April 19th, 1931. The Kirby family moved to their farm in Spy Hill when she was about 12 years old. Jean attended Willowdale until grade 5/6 and then attended Spy Hill until grade 11.
She married Glenn Orth in 1949 and moved to the family farm in Ingleside. Then the children came along. Curt (1950), Calvin (1952), Karen (1953), Gaylene (1958) and lastly Darren (1965).
Jean had many passions including baking, sewing, canning and gardening. Her garden was filled with flowers and of course her many vegetables. She loved to dance all varieties but especially round dancing, square dancing and anything old time. She was a member of the Golden Girls sewing club, a member of the Ingleside United Church women’s group, belonged to the Seniors group for 35 years and was a proud member of the Red Hat Ladies.
Jean also helped Karen with her catering business with that love of baking.
Glenn and Jean retired to town in 1988 where they built their dream home. In 1998, they moved to the current home where Jean has lived until of late.
Jean was predecessed by her baby brother Frankie, her mother Olive and her father Frank. Jean was the last of the siblings, Vera, Don, Dick, Ted and Polly. She was also predeceased by her husband of 52 years Glenn, her son Calvin, daughter Karen, sons in law Bill and Rodney, grandsons Scott, Jordan and Joseph.
Jean is survived by Curt (Susan) Orth and their family Nadine (Rick) Lyon and Ethan and Zanna; Danit (Jeff) Vass and their family Curtis (Katie) and kids Tayah, Colby, and Noah, and Terrance and Haley (Hank) Quantz and family Lucas (Sage) and family Scott, Emmerson and Leonardo, and Alan (Bailey); Marlene Orth and family Michael and kids Carter, Duke, Calvin and Harlyn, and Ian and his girls Zoey and Anna; Gaylene Clay and her family Jeremy (Alana) and kids Kelsi, Kayla(Logan), John, Danny, and Allison; Justin (Kristi) Clay and family- Keaton, Kadence, Kaleb, Kolby and Kolton; Joanne (Kevin) McDonnell and family Tyrell (Makayla) and Janell (Ryan) and Darren (Cyndi) Orth and their family Alex (Jocelyn) and Hazel, Jaxon (Olivia) and Sophia, Todd Hooper and his family Damian (Shaelyn) Hooper and family Cali and Cayden, Taylor and Braxton; and Theresa Hooper.
And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
