Jim Wolfram Obituary

Jerry (Jim) Gilford Wolfram of Churchbridge, SK passed away October 3, 2022 at the age of 77 years.

Jim was born in Pangman, SK on October 29, 1944, to Max and Elsie Wolfram (nee) Schultz.  He was the second of four children; a brother to William (Bill), Vivian and Sharon.

In 1951, at the young age of 7, he had polio, which affected him well into his young adulthood.

Jim took pride in many endeavours while he grew up, such as working at the family store, fixing up old vehicles with his brother Bill, driving school bus, operating a schield bantam and farming for his Uncle.

As a child his interests included playing baseball, football, hockey, ping pong, chess, running, and getting into mischief with his brother, Bill.

In 1967 he completed a trade in meat cutting and relocated to Churchbridge to open a family grocery store named Wolfram‘s IGA. This cultivated his love for socializing, and he often invited customers to the back of the store for a drink.

It must’ve been his famous secret sausage recipe that attracted his future bride, Cindy Wilson, in 1970, with whom he married on August 28th, 1971.  Jim and Cindy went on to have three beautiful, intelligent, amazing, witty, dazzling, and charming daughters Amanda, Charla and Marisa.

As a family, Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, trips to the farm, mushroom picking, backroad driving lessons to teach his girls how to drive “stick shift” and “three on the tree”, skidooing, monopoly games, and visits to the cabin.

Jim had fond memories of his travel to the Dominican Republic, Arizona, Indiana, Montana, North and South Dakota, Illinois and Nevada.

Jim had 25 active years of service with the Churchbridge Fire Department where he volunteered from 1967 to 1992, serving as the Fire Chief for many years during this timeframe.

In 1983 they decided to sell the store and he went on to work on the rigs in Grand Prairie, Alberta where he lived with his cousin Jamie, and wife, Penny.  In 1986 he began working at the IMC - K2 Potash Mine where he continued his career up until retirement.

After retirement he enjoyed his time on the tractor, tilling gardens, mowing grass and being outdoors, going for drives, and visiting with friends and strangers. It was through this time he experienced an abundance of health challenges that preoccupied him during the years foregoing his death.

Jim's family, children and grandchildren were his pride & joy. He was very grateful and appreciative for the help he received from his neighbors and his girls.

Jim was known for his sense of humour, practical jokes, and his 'one-liners'. He had a charismatic personality; he was kind, generous, humble-natured, and had an upmost faith in the Lord.

Jim was predeceased by his parents; his Father, Max in 1997 and Mother, Elsie in 2020; his brother, Bill in 1974, and Granddaughter, Devyn in 2012.

Surviving are his 3 daughters, Amanda (Marc), Charla, Marisa (Kurt); his Grandchildren Josie (Marcus), Daniel, Rylee (Brendan), Joshua, Madison, Jaxon, Rogan and Lucas.  As well, his sisters, Sharon (Don) and Vivian (Lyle) and several nephews and nieces.
