John Russin Obituary

John Russin was born on December 25, 1936, on the family farm 3 1/2 miles south of Shellmouth, MB.   John was the fifth child of John Sr. and Katharine Russin.  John went to school in Shellmouth and helped out on the family farm. After he quit school, he helped his brothers and father on the farm in the summer and worked in Winnipeg for a few winters.  John also worked at the I.M.C. mine from 1962 to 1967

In 1962 he married Darlene Andres from MacNutt, SK.  They took over the family farm in 1963. They operated a mixed farm, milked cows, and raised their family of 5 girls.  John loved to hunt, trap, fish, and camp.  He enjoyed snowmobiling and quadding and spent hours giving the grandkids rides on the quad, snowmobile, or tractor.  In fall you could find him in the bush cutting and spitting wood for weeks.   John also loved to play cards with family and friends or alone playing solitaire when it was too cold to be outside.  John loved music and dancing.  His feet and hands would always be tapping along to the music.

John and Darlene retired from farming and had their auction sale in April of 2000.  In March of 2016 they moved from the farm into Park Manor in Russell.  In January 2021 John moved to the Russell Personal Care Home where he spent the rest of his days giving the staff a hard time.

John was predeceased by his parents, John and Katharine (Mary) Russin, in-laws Adolph and Nellie Andres, sister Sophie, and brothers-in-law (Ken, and Alvin) brothers Murray and his wife Joey, Vic and his wife Marie, Ed and his wife Gertie, brother-in-law Ron Andres, sister-in-law Irene Zimmer and her husband Ed, niece Doreen Quibel and her son Jacoby.

John will be missed by his wife Darlene and his five daughters Cindy (Ron) and children Jonathan, Ryan (Austin), Michael, and Brooke (Kyle).  Brenda (Blair) and children Brittany (Stefan), Shelbie (Brett), and Akilah.  Lisa (Randy) and children Jeremy (Cheryl), Jamie (Robby), and Jordan.  Laurie (Ray) and children Brianna and Lucas.  Tracy (Ken) children Steven (Curtis) and Amanda (Brayden). Grandpa will also be missed by his great-grandchildren Bentley Halwas, Kaydon and Asher Matwyko,  and Henrik Hartman.

John will also be missed and remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and friends and anyone that knew him.
