E. June Mitschke was born on June 14th, 1929 on the farm in the Thingvalla region, north of Churchbridge.  She was the youngest child of Dan and Gudrun Westman.  June had 5 older brothers and sisters.

On her 21st birthday, in 1950, she married Wilfred “Spoony” Wotherspoon.  They lived in Churchbridge.   In 1951, June and her husband had a baby girl, Carol Lynne Wotherspoon.

In 1954, June and Spoony had a son named Robert Wayne Wotherspoon. In 1958, June’s husband was killed on duty in a Air Force helicopter search and rescue mission over Lake Winnipeg. In 1959, June and her two children moved to Swift Current, Sask.  She lived there until 1968 when she married, Robert (Bob) Mitschke and moved to Langenburg. In 1971, her daughter Carol married Ken Weinheimer and they had 3 children, Bruce, Tania and Robert. In 1995, Carol’s husband Ken died and Carol remarried in 2003 to Trevor Kirk. In 2008, June’s daughter Carol died.  The following year in 2009, June’s second husband of 42 years passed away. June lived independently after that and eventually moved into a condo six years ago.
