Katherine Emily Nelson

Kathie Nelson (Begg) passed away on March 8, 2023 at the age of 72 at Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home after a short battle with brain cancer.

Kathie was born May 29, 1950 in Rapid City, MB. She lived on a farm outside of Rapid City. Kathie attended school in Forrest, MB. She graduated from Elton Colligate in Forrest in 1968.

Kathie married Chuck Nelson on October 5, 1968. They resided in Brandon after they were married. While in Brandon, Kathie worked at a law office and then at Fairveiw Care Home as a Health Care Aid.

In 1975 they moved to Langenburg, where they lived and worked for many years. Kathie worked as a Health Care Aid at Langenburg Union Hospital and at Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home.

Kathie liked spending time going to ball games, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, quadding, going for coffee, and spending time with her Grandson.

After Kathie retired from the Langenburg Centennial Special Care Home she traveled a bit. Going to see old friends mostly.

In 2010 Kathie had taken sick and ended up in the Royal University Hospital for 4 months. There was no explanation to be had. Nothing could be done for her.

In 2011 Kathie went to the Langenburg Care Home to live.

In 2020 she developed breast cancer. She fought hard through that and persevered through it all. But in February of 2023 she was diagnosed with brain cancer and succumbed to the cancer.

Kathie was predeceased by her parents, Walter & Vera Begg, and by Roberta Storey.

She is survived by her son Leonard, daughter Tannis (Pat), Grandson Jackson (Kerri), brothers Lenard (Marj), Wilmer(Hilda), Brent (Marieanne), sister Louise (Gilbert), and nephews Charles and Jayson.
