Keitha Isabelle Wabash (Bone) of Waywayseecappo First Nation passed away in the early morning of September 3, 2022, at Russell Hospital at the age of 78.
Brief History: Keitha grew up in Keeseekoowenin and Waywayseecappo. She attended Birtle Residential School for two years and the Day School here in Waywayseecappo. When she was 16, Keitha married Leonard Wabash and they had four boys and one daughter. When they were young, they worked at random farms including Clement's Ranch. Keitha worked many other jobs including a teacher's assistant and worked many years at the daycare here in Waywayseecappo. She also worked at the sewing factory and was an essential part of its creation.
Keitha enjoyed bingo, sewing, cooking, gardening, and visiting with her grandchildren. She was always willing to help out anyone who asked and loved her friendships she made at the care home.
She was predeceased by her parents Roderick and Esther Bone, brothers Norman, Lenny, and Reaford Bone, Eric and Pat Mecas, sisters Gladys Bone, Darlene Taypotat (Mecas), her son Marcel Wabash, her grandchildren Melford Jr. and Kree Wabash.
Surviving her are her partner Leonard, children, Melville (Bonnie), Melford (Angie), Leonard Jr., Pauline (Kellen), her grandchildren Josh (Desnee), Raven (Josh), Leticia (Darcy), Candace, Dominique, Jasmine, Jeremiah (Talisa), Terri (Dennis), Farrah (Darcy), Shalynn (Robert), Cheyanna, Celecia (Dylan), Jaden, Oliver (Anikee), Summer, Eric, Jenny, and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Kellen Bird, Josh Letander, Calvin Bird, Ryan Cote, Darren Cote and Calvin Mentuck.
The family would like to thank everyone for being here today, their prayers and their support, all the donations. We would like to acknowledge and thank the Rossburn care home staff and clients, Dakota Oyate care home in Sioux Valley, Russell hospital, the funeral home, Chief and Council, elder Sydney Longclaws, and the traditional singers.
