Laverne Lamontagne Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Laverne Lamontagne. Aged 65 of Russell, Manitoba. Laverne passed away at the Russell hospital on July 16th, 2024, after a short but brave battle with cancer. She was born on March 13th, 1959, in Roblin, Manitoba. Laverne was a beloved mother and grandma to Jennifer and Eve Koss. Laverne's passing has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

Laverne's life was defined by her unwavering compassion and dedication to helping others.  She spent many years working as a nurse’s aide at the Russell Personal Care Home. There she touched countless lives with her kindness and empathy. After she retired, Laverne rediscovered her love of learning and began to work towards gaining her high school diploma. She was deeply dedicated to her studies and was often the top student in her class. In her free time, she enjoyed having “girls night” with her friends, as well as being with her family for movie nights, playing games, and delicious home cooked meals. Laverne will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature, her love of life, her sage advice and her generous heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Expanding Community Cancer Care, Russell.

When I Go

By Donna Ashworth

When I go

don’t learn to live without me

just learn to live with my love

in a different way

And if you need to see me

close your eyes

or look in your shadow

when the sun shines

I’m there.

Sit with me in the quiet

and you will know

that I did not leave.

There is no leaving

when one soul is blended

with another.

When I go

don’t learn to live without me

just learn to look for me

in the moments.

I will be there.
