Lee Marie Souchuk was born October 29, 1932, at her parents, Peter and Mary’s, farm 10 miles south of Binscarth. Lee was the youngest of 13 children. She went to Gambler school until 1945 when her parents moved 3 miles south of Russell.
Lee took her hairdressing course at the Scientific Beauty School in Winnipeg and within six months she was working at the salon in the Hudson’s Bay store in Winnipeg. On July 25, 1959, Lee married Steve Souchuk. In 1959, they left to live in Port Alberni, BC. Steve was employed as a paper maker and Lee owned her own beauty shop. In 1965, Lee and Steve moved back to Russell. In 1972, Lee got a position at the Russell Personal Care Home in the dietary department and worked there until 1997 when she retired. Lee was also involved in 4-H and Women’s Aglow.
