Leona Dorothy Twardowski

Leona was born February 12, 1935 in the R.M. of Silver Creek, the second child of Mike & Annie Kuz. She passed away on August 30, 2023 in the Brandon General Hospital at the age of 88 Years.

Leona attended early education at Balfour School. Leona moved to Winnipeg in the 50’s and was employed as a nanny & nurses aid. In 1958 Leona met and married the love of her life. Ed and Leona were married for 64 years. In 1961 their son Mike was born. In the late 60’s Ed, Leona and Mike moved to Russell where she continued her nurses aid career for over 25 years.

In 2016 Leona was reunited with her son Ric.  After many years a piece of her life was complete.  It brought her peace to have him in her life.

Leona loved baseball, fishing, cards, ceramics, crocheting, gardening and cooking. She loved her monthly perogy making at the church.

Leona was known for her wittiness, sense of humour, and always willing to help others. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her passion in life.

She was predeceased by her parents Mike & Annie Kuz, sister Mabel and brother-in-law Chester Magnowski; brother Lawrence Kuz; brother-in-law Marty and Evelyn Twardowski and brother-in-law Leslie Twardowski.

Leona leaves behind to mourn her passing her husband Ed; sons Mike (Barb) & Ric (Merlene); grandchildren Mick (Carly), Page (Darrell), Megan (Justin), Dane (Theresa) as well as 10 great-grandchildren who loved her.
