Lillie Marshall Obituary

Lillie was born November 26, 1927, and she passed away at Russell & District Personal Care Home, Russell, MB, on September 5th, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Lillie was predeceased by her loving husband Arnold, son Gordon, parents Carl & Agatha Wiedeman and twin sister Rose Wiebe.  She is the beloved mother of Allan (Beulah) and Jeanette Marshall, grandmother of Sherri Jezowski, Cindy (Michael) Schroeder and Christiaan Marshall-Lage, great-grandmother of Sky and Brandon Jezowski, Abigail and Preston Schroeder and sister of Linda Banman. Also surviving are nieces and nephews from her sisters' families and many relatives on Arnold’s side of the family including Lorraine Andres of Saltcoats, SK.

Lillie was born in the Mennonite community of Plum Coulee, MB. As a young adult, she was employed at the King George Hospital in Winnipeg.  She met Arnold Marshall in 1946 while he was a patient at the Deer Lodge Hospital following service in World War II. They married in 1947. Together they operated Deer Valley Farm in the Endcliffe/Londonderry District, and they attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at Inglis, MB.

Following Arnold’s death in 2003, Lillie retired to the Banner County Residence in Russell, and in 2011 she moved to the Personal Care Home. She had a love of reading, gardening, bird feeding and being surrounded by the beauty of nature. To God goes the glory of a fully lived and richly blessed life.

Due to Covid-19, a private funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Inglis, MB, with Pastor Daniel Moeller officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Smith, Darrel Lowenberger, Tim Kleebaum, Cindy Schroeder, Michael Schroeder and Al Marshall.  Honorary pallbearers were Lorraine Andres, Edie Lowenberger, Janet Smith, nurses & staff at the Personal Care Home. Vocalist was Edie Lowenberger singing “Jesus Loves Me”.

The Lillie Marshall family would like to thank everyone who assisted Mother before and after her passing.  We want to thank the Russell & District Personal Care Home Nurses and Staff that took such good care of our Mother during her nine year stay there.  We are so blessed to have such qualified, talented, and loving people that provide such a high level of care and support at our Care Home.  In this Covid-19 pandemic, I was very appreciative that they allowed and encouraged me to visit as often as I could.  I was very blessed to be with Mother on September 5th when she passed at 11:54 AM and that the nurses came running into her room before she breathed her last breath.  It was significant to us that Mother’s twin sister died 17 years earlier on exactly the same day.  Thank you to Dr. Almalky for caring for Lillie over the past years.

Braendle Bruce Funeral Home did an outstanding job of her funeral arrangements.  Special thanks to Rick Thom for so quickly arranging the funeral for Monday, September 7th which happens to be the 17th Anniversary Date of my Dad, Arnold Marshall’s death.  Thank you to the Staff who dressed Mother and did her makeup and hair, and placed her comfortably in the coffin.  You did wonderful!  Thank you to David Klassen, Robert Fingas, and Donna Chastko who supervised the funeral at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Inglis cemetery.  Thank you to the Pallbearers, Earl Smith, Darrel Lowenberger, Tim Kleebaum, Cindy & Michael Schroeder, who carried Mother to her final resting place.  Special thank you to Edie Lowenberger for singing “Jesus Loves Me” which was Mom’s favourite hymn.  Thank you to Pastor Dan Moeller for a special grave side service and for all the times he attended at the Personal Care Home to bring Word and Sacrament to Mother.

Thank you Chicken Chef for serving up a wonderful luncheon in their banquet room!  The meals were delicious and the service was wonderful!

Thank you to all our friends who called, texted, emailed, and sent food, flowers, and cards of condolences!  You are all very special and we appreciate you all.

Special thank you to God for giving Mother a fully lived and richly blessed life, and for giving her and us a mansion in Heaven!

God Bless You All!  Al, Beulah, Jeanette and families!

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
