Mike Twardoski Obituary

Michael “Mike” was born April 27th, 1961 in Winnipeg. He passed away on August 23, 2024 at the age of 63 years. Son of Edward and Leona Twardowski.

He moved to Russell in the 70’s and attended Major Pratt School, graduating in 1980. It was there he met his high school sweetheart, Barb Thom and they married in 1981. They have two children Mickael (Mick) and Page.

During his life, he embarked in different professions including owning Mike’s Bait and Tackle, most recently driving with Twin Valley CO-OP. He loved his time with the Wolverines as trainer and billet dad.

His greatest passion and hobby was fishing, including starting the Prairie Classic Walleye Tournament until he handed it over to the Russell Lions in 2004. Over the past few years, he and his son Mick added guiding to their ventures with Prairie Eye Guiding.

In the earlier years, Mike loved showing horses, baseball, reffing hockey, hunting, golfing, fishing, attending tournaments, and playing cards. He also took great joy in hosting Japanese exchange students.

In 2023, Mike and Barb moved to Prairie Lake Lodge which was their retirement dream. He loved the community, golfing, and fishing. Family was always number one and he considered many close friends as family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; he loved spending time with them.

He was predeceased by his mother, Leona in 2023.

Mike leaves to mourn his wife Barb of 43 years, son Mick (Carly), daughter Page (Darrell), father Edward, brother Ric (Merlene), grandchildren Hudson & Rhett, Kinsley & Lennon and extended family and friends.
