Myrna May "Cooley" Douglas

Myrna May (Cooley) Douglas, 71, of Binscarth, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2025 at the Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba.

Myrna was born on August 31st, 1954, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba to Ray and Nell Cooley and grew up in Birtle. Growing up in a home on the farm and later on in the big house in town where they had boarders that were continually welcome, Myrna’s passion for cooking and baking for all those around her came at a young age and brought her joy for many years.

Myrna lived in Elkhorn and worked at the municipal office in Virden throughout her early years where she made many lifelong friendships.

Myrna met Ken Douglas through their work in the municipal and provincial governments. Their daughter Kendell was born in Winnipeg and after a few years in Brandon they retired in the early 90’s to Binscarth which they made home for their remaining years. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor and with MS just after Kendell was born in 1987. Although she lived with many health challenges she did not let them define her but was able to face them head on.  Later in life she still held a positive attitude, pleasant demeanor and continued to enjoy lots of laughter with those around her.

She is survived by her daughter Kendell LoRegio (Anthony), stepdaughter Erin Edwards (Craig) and granddaughter Emily. She is also survived by her sister Joan Ellis and brother Ted Cooley (Mona), as well as in laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and their families.

She will be remembered for her joy and positivity that she carried with her through life, her love for family and friends and the way she made everyone feel at home bringing all together around the table for meals.
