Nick Ewanchuk Obituary

With great sadness, we announced the sudden passing of Nicholas (Nick) Ewanchuk, of Rossburn, Manitoba on May 6, 2023 at the Brandon Hospital.

Nick was born on July 30, 1944 to Fred and Carrie (Kotelniski) Ewanchuk, the youngest of their seven children, on the farm in the Birdtail District.  He attended Valley School and then on to Rossburn School where he completed his grade 12. He attended Valley School and he had to walk 3 miles to get there. When the schools consolidated, he walked 1 ½ miles to catch the school bus to Rossburn School where he completed his grade 12.

After his parents passed Nick took over the farm growing grain, cutting and selling wood, and also working at the Glen Elmo cemetery.  Whatever needed to be done, he was always there. In 1991 he sold his farm and moved to Rossburn but continued to cut and sell wood for a few more years until his health slowed him down and he moved into the Lions Manor. As his health failed more, he moved to the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home in February of 2021. His favorite pass time was reading a lot of books and playing his records.

He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Carrie, his sisters Lucy, Joyce, Nancy and Annie, and his brother Steve. He is survived by his sister Ella Ewanchuk of Russell, cousin Melvin and wife Marion Barnesky of Rossburn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will all remember him fondly.  Nick is also survived by a special friend, Shannon Golden and her husband Melvin Swereda.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
