Patricia “Patsy” Jessop of St. Lazare passed away April 3rd, 2020 at the Shoal Lake Health Centre at the age of 71 years.
Patricia “Patsy” Rose Jessop (nee Lepine), second of seven children for Alexander “Boss” and Reta, was born on January 17th, 1949 in the RM of Ellice. Patsy was raised in St. Lazare. She married the love of her life Harry Jessop on July 12th, 1969. They had five children who were also raised in a loving close knit family setting. Her love of her family was so great, she loved being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunty. She shared her love with many children whom she babysat or cared for. Not an occasion, birthday, or anniversary passed without a celebration. She truly loved being surrounded by family and friends, and of course their pets!
Patsy loved being surrounded by many friends and family. She enjoyed so many activities that were always enjoyed by large groups such as fishing, gardening, making maple syrup, camping, canoeing, crafting and enjoying the pleasures of outdoor living. She loved her road trips to visit family in Saskatchewan and Alberta, shopping and especially the quad rides. Patsy and Harry spent many hours and days enjoying their acreage with their grandchildren. They loved to share their lives with others.
She also had a large presence in the community. She volunteered in many organizations as a leader in the Ladies Auxiliary for countless years, a member of the Community Hall and Bingo committee, and an active member of the Fort Ellice Local Metis Federation (also attended many General Meetings in Winnipeg and Brandon). Patsy and Harry owned and operated Jessop's Food Market in St. Lazare, donating and assisting in the village of St. Lazare for years. She catered to many functions and helped everyone how ever she could.
Once Harry passed, her heart was truly broken. She missed him in the greatest way and although we see her passing as a loss to us, we can also be happy to know she is reunited with him and her heart is full again. We are all very happy to have been raised in such a loving family.
She was predeceased by her husband Harry, her brother Francis “L'Homme” Lepine, grandson Alexander Jessop and brother-in-law Elwood Henderson. Surviving her are her children Pam (Rob) Jessop, Renee (Louis) Dupont, Jamie (Sandro) Markert, Mandy (Ray) Ronnellenfitch, and Owen (Jennifer) Jessop. Grand Children Tiffany (Josh) Huberdeau, Elise Plante, Kerigan (Brody) Plante, Kelsey Dupont, Kennedy (Rene) Halliday, Kassidy Dupont, Derrick Asselstine, Carlene (Patrick) Asselstine, Hunter Dix, Tristen (Aidan) Ronnellenfitch, and Delsin (Tayla) Ronnellenfitch. Great Grandchildren Lydia and Sophia Huberdeau, Kayde Dupont, Gabriel and Layla Halliday, Jacob and Kolt Asselstine.
Also surviving her are her siblings Margaret (Jim) Bagley, Betty Henderson, Carl (Tammy) Lepine, June (Kevin) Ruckle, and Mona Lepine as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A small viewing and funeral service was held in Russell on April 7 2020 with Father Christopher Dubois officiating. Internment followed at the St. Lazare Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
