Randy Joseph Kochanowski passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2025 after months struggling with many health issues.
Randy was the third child born to Mildred and Steve Kochanowski, born on July 17, 1961, and he was raised with his 5 siblings on a farm near Shellmouth. He attended school in Shellmouth before continuing school in Inglis and Russell. In school, he loved shop class and anything to do with wood and metal working. He worked with his hands and his heart.
He later helped out on the family farm where he loved working with his dad at the bee yards and helping with any tasks that involved mechanics. He was self-taught and excellent at figuring out mechanics on his own. He was always an honest, hard working man. His nickname by the neighbours when he was younger was even “Mechanic.”
Randy had three children, Tony, Chelsea and Dale, whom he loved beyond measure.
In the early 2000's Randy moved up to Gilbert Plains, he took over Plain’s Welding where he established himself as a knowledgeable and trustworthy fabrication and repair tradesman. He made many close friends at his home there.
Most recently Randy had a semi-retired nomadic lifestyle where he loved nothing more than visiting with family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed time on the golf course, and winters spent at the rink. Randy had a great sense of humour and loved practical jokes – and making people laugh and happy. He lived his life without an agenda – plans made in the moment – whether it included helping make cookies, supervising or assisting in home and yard renos, or helping with whatever needed to be done. He was always willing to give his time and guidance, and he was always willing to lend a hand. Even more so, he was always happy for a visit. He loved being with others whether it was helping or visiting, and he always made time for everyone.
Randy is preceded by his father Steve, Mother Mildred, sisters Terri and Stacy, as well as nephew Ryan.
He leaves to mourn: his brother, Gary (Cindy), his brother, Ron (Kerry), and his sister, Brenda, as well as his three children, Tony (Callie), Chelsea (Graeme), and Dale (Christie) and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
At this time, we would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, technicians, and other health care workers for the care they showed towards him and his family. We would also like to thank Breandle and Bruce for being in charge of funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice. *****
