Obituary

Brian Ricky (Rick) Goraluk of Inglis, Manitoba passed away suddenly on April 9, 2022, at home, at the age of 62 years.

Rick was born in Russell, Manitoba on March 21, 1960.  He was the third child born to Mike and Mildred Goraluk.  He attended school in Inglis from Grade 1 to Grade 9 then when to high school at Russell Major Pratt from Grades 10 to 12.  While in Grade 10, he attended a junior high dance where he first met the love of his life, Karen Barber.

He lived on the family farm until he was 18 years of age.  After high school in 1978 Rick went to Kyle, SK and worked for a grain farmer for a few months. Then off to Flin Flon, where he worked for Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Co. in the fuming plant.  In 1979, Rick left the mine and moved to Edmonton, Alberta to follow Karen.  He worked on the rigs and at various jobs, including Cellulose Insulation and All Surface Cleaning.

In 1980 Rick moved back to Manitoba to help his dad on the family farm.  On May 2, 1981, Rick and Karen were married. They were blessed with two sons, Jeffrey in 1984 and Tony in 1986. Life was busy with two wild boys and farm life.

In September of 1982, Rick and Karen started RK Music. Over 36 years in business, they played at over 1000 weddings, socials, anniversaries, retirements, birthdays, and Christmas parties.  Venues included halls, sheds, barns, auction marts and even an airplane hanger.

Rick was very active in the community being involved with many different committees including Inglis & District Community Club where he spearheaded the Items, Time and Talent Auctions. He was also on the Russell and District Vet Board, Snow Traxx Snowmobile Club, Crocus Trans Canada Trail, and Roblin Soil Conservation, only to name few.  Rick was a councillor for the RM of Shellmouth-Boulton for 22 years. He also volunteered for the Inglis Fire Department for 14 years.

In 2008, they purchased Asessippi Beach & Campground, where Rick had a vision to bring it back to life and he certainly accomplished that!  Together they built a place where friends and families could gather and create memories.

Rick’s biggest pride and joy in life, was when he became Ging to Ashton and Mia and Grandpa to Chelsea.  He would do anything for his grandkids!  He loved taking them on one of his many modes of transportation, whether it was golf cart rides, tractor rides, or quad rides and then treating them to an ice cream.

Rick was predeceased by his mom and dad, Mike and Mildred Goraluk,  Mother-in-law Doris Barber and Father-in-law George Barber, and Sister, Sheila Goraluk.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen;  Son, Jeffrey (Breanne) and their children Ashton and Mia of Russell, MB; Son, Tony (Jenna) and their daughter Chelsea of Stony Plain, AB; Sister, Val (Terry) of Sandy Beach, SK; Sister, Teresa Goraluk of Winnipeg; Brother, Kyle Goraluk of Inglis, Sister-in-law, Marsha Trinder of Russell, MB; As well as nieces and nephews.
