Robert Charles Ireland was born on November 3, 1944 in Russell, Manitoba. He was the eldest of five children to Cedric and Dorothy Ireland. Robert completed grade school in Binscarth, Manitoba. During his school years he was actively involved in the 4-H Club and was very proud of being a member, taking great pride in his calf showings. Having grown up on the family farm and doing daily chores with his father, farming became a passion of his. He worked for various farmers as a labourer for several years. Following his  farming experience he decided to pursue employment in the construction of the IMC Mine working alongside his uncle Pete Kushuba. In 1974 he became employed with the Canadian Pacific Railway. At times traveling away from home to places like Crystal City and Langenburg. Finally settling in Binscarth where he remained until he retired in 2000 after 26 years of service. Robert was hard working and dedicated throughout his life.

In 1967 Robert married Beatrice Annette Ducharme and went on to have seven children, Bernice, Patricia, Sheila, Peter, Freda, Tanya and Tammy. Robert and Beatrice raised their family in the town of Binscarth, Manitoba.

Following his retirement, Robert filled his time by taking on part time jobs at the Binscarth post office assuming janitorial services, ground maintenance at the Binscarth Cemetery, seasonal lawn and snow removal in the local area as well as he worked for the RM of Binscarth at the nuisance ground. He enjoyed socializing and took pride in helping others. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and friends.

Robert loved being outside and took great pride in maintaining his lawn and flowers. He would spend hours perfecting and maintaining his yard. Robert also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was having his grandchildren and great grandchildren around him creating memories.
