Ronald “Ron” Anton Jacob
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Anton Jacob, who left this world on February 11, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on August 18, 1935 in Rabbit Lake, SK, Ron was a man of strong hands and an even stronger heart. He was one of 6 siblings born to Karoline and Anton Jacob. Ron met the love of his life Colleen while residing in Gravelbourg, SK. They were married August 20, 1960 and moved to Langenburg in 1964. Ron started and grew a very successful construction company; Jacob’s Construction and Masonry Ltd in Langenburg.
Ron retired in 1999, but he never truly stopped working. He would visit every job site, always ready to lend a hand and help with small repairs. He found joy in his workshop, crafting intricate wooden masterpieces. Even after slowing down, Ron and Colleen cherished their time dancing and visiting with friends. There wasn’t a place where Ron didn’t make new connections. For five years, they traveled to Mexico with their truck and camper, maintaining close friendships with those they met, including dear friends from the East Coast.
Ron was deeply devoted to his church. He cared for the church grounds, sang in the choir for many years, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. His dedication and research played a key role in acquiring new pews for the church, and in recognition of his efforts, a plaque honoring his hard work and commitment remains in “his pew.”
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years Colleen, son’s Allan (Carla), Grant (Kathy), Clancy (Sharon), Michael (Pauline), and Bruce (Jennifer); grandchildren Dustin (Jordan), Chris (Randi), Cody (Michael), Lauren (Mark), Hanna (Cole), Colby (Kylee), Jodi (Colton), Ty, Andrew, Riley (Olivia), Curtis, and Andrea; great grandchildren Salem, Briar, Clarke and Suri; siblings Betty Walters, Robert (Vi), Winnie (Gerhart) Preibisch, and Ruth (Steve) Breitner; sister-in-law Gail Jacob; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Ron was predeceased by his brother Wilfred and brother-in-law Ray Walters.
Ron was a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. He faced life’s challenges with resilience and always found a way to provide, support, and encourage those around him. Whether with a hammer in hand or a warm smile, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Ron’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
