Sarah Becker Obituary

Sarah Lavone Becker (nee Lowenberger) was born April 16th, 1981. She was baptized and confirmed

at St.Paul’s Lutheran Church in Langenburg. Sarah was out going and active.  She enjoyed Karate

lessons and dance classes, being a member of the Pioneer Club and volunteering at the Langenburg Vet

Clinic.   After her graduation from high school she attended Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon and

eventually worked at Naturally You Esthetics in Yorkton.

After some time she opened her own shop, “Sara-Nity Esthetics” in Langenburg.  In 2012 a

devastating car accident kept her in hospital for 2 months.  After recovering, she moved her shop to

Roblin until her cancer diagnosis in April of 2021.

Jason and Sarah were married in a private ceremony on their farm on May 12, 2021 a day before her

first chemotherapy treatment. Whenever able, she loved helping out on the farm, working with cattle,

driving equipment and making meals.  In their life together, Sarah and Jason enjoyed working together,

hosting events (supper parties, Bingo nights, BBQs at the lake), trips with family and friends and

making memories.  Sharing what she had was an integral part of her.  Donations, imparting wisdom and

knowledge:  she was determined to live with purpose.  Treating the homeless to cash, muffins, donuts,

coffee or ice cream was a special passion of hers.

Cancer, though harsh and cruel, brought out the very best in her.  When she closed her beloved shop,

many of her unsold products were packaged in Christmas bags and donated to the patients at the

Allan Blair Cancer Clinic in Regina.  She composed the poem on the back of this bulletin and

submitted it to the Wild Flower Magazine where it was published.  She was featured in the Cancer

Foundation of Saskatchewan Donor Report.  A highlight for her was being chosen from many

applicants in Saskatchewan as a recipient of the Cameco Riders Touchdown for Dreams program in

2022.  Deep friendships were forged within this group of women who returned each year that they

were able to attend the “Pink” football game in Regina in October.  In 2022, Sarah was chosen as their

spokesperson for this event, giving radio and television interviews.  Cameco invited Sarah and Jason to

their Cancer Fund Raiser event in Saskatoon yearly.  In October of 2023 she spoke to a sold out crowd

at Langenburg’s Pink and Chocolate night.  She participated in the C95 Radio Marathon for Breast

Cancer Research in the fall of 2024 in Saskatoon, sharing her story to help raise awareness and funds.

An opportunity for another speaking engagement was turned down, due to failing

health. She posted several reels online which inspired and encouraged many people.

This past year was increasingly difficult but she managed her struggles with great dignity, unfailing

faith, determined to serve God to the very end of her life.  Having purpose was of utmost importance to

her, providing love and care to whomever needed.

Jason fulfilled her desire to remain at home as long as possible.  She entered Palliative Care only one

week before her passing.  God called her home as she was surrounded by family and she passed with

such an expression of peace and, yes, joy on her face that though we were grieved we were also

comforted. Because of God’s promise of heaven, Sarah could do that!

A huge thank you goes out to Nurse Practitioner, Alexandra Galli, of Simplistic Health in Yorkton, the

Allan Blair Clinic in Regina and Thrive Naturopathic Clinic in Regina. Her original diagnosis gave her

a very limited timeline but the care extended by these staff members gave her the treatments and the

hope that gave her 4 extra years.  We thank you for this gift.

Our gratitude to the Home Care nurses, nurses, Care Aides and staff at the Langenburg Care Home

cannot be adequately expressed in words.  The level of compassion and care that was extended to

Sarah and to all of us who sat with her was above and beyond what anyone could hope for.

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

You eased this final leg of Sarah’s journey with your gentleness, your love, your thoughtfulness,

your prayers and your very presence.  We love you and are forever grateful.

The Becker and Lowenberger families.
