At 95 years of age, after a fun-filled life including baseball, curling, barn dances, raising cattle (and children) and growing grain, this lifelong farmer knew about success and failure and the reality of hard work on the Jackson Homestead farm near Inglis Manitoba. Stanley was full of both imagination and strength ~ as witnessed by his one-off stint as a rodeo clown, decked out in a blond wig and his wife’s form fitting, hot pink, knit sweater/skirt ensemble with a fabric bulls-eye fastened to his behind. We won’t get into the injury he sustained . . .
Stanley was the son of James and Bessie Jackson. His home birth led to lifelong conversation and confusion over whether his actual birth date was April 13th or 14th. His father, James Jr. was born in Northern Ireland and Bessie Corden was born in Miami, Manitoba.
He passed away at the Russell Personal Care Home where both his mother and his mother-in-law spent their final years. Prior to that he had also enjoyed his stay at the Birtle Care Home. The staff at both Homes were lovely and took excellent care of him.
Stanley lost his life partner, Carol Pentilchuk in 2018, son-in-law George Berman in 2016,
daughter-in-law Darlene (Bauereiss) Jackson in 2024 and sisters Mildred Galatiuk in 2013
and Patricia Rodnunsky in 2002.
Left to celebrate his life are his children Wendy, Grant (Arla), Linda, Garth, and his grandson Justin Jackson (Yvonne Chow). Also, Stanley’s sister Betty Jackson (Bruce Smith), brother Winston (Marlies) Jackson and many other relatives and friends.
We all loved the Irish twinkle in his eyes because it was often the precursor of a fun comment about to be shared. Even one of the Care Home staff members commented on that twinkle, which clearly hadn’t dimmed with age. This lovely, good man is now resting and wending his way into his next experience.
He was loved.
