Stanley Joseph Yankoski passed away on December 9, 2020, age 98 years. He was born November 15, 1922 to Joseph and Caroline Yankoski (Woroniecki). The family lived in Binscarth, Manitoba until Joseph passed away in 1935, and they moved to Russell. Stanley served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1942 to 1945 in the North Atlantic during WWII. He returned to Russell, met Orpha McCallum at the Russell Fair and they married in 1950. Stanley worked for the Manitoba Liquor Commission, and served in various volunteer positions at St Joseph the Worker Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active with the Parish during the building of this Church. Stan was a member and past President at the Russell Legion. He was known for dedication and thoroughness in his work. In retirement, Stan was a member of the Russell golf club and enjoyed regular games with friends.
Stanley was predeceased by his father Joseph (1935), mother Caroline (1971) , his beloved wife Orpha in 2006, brothers Anthony (1942), Julian (1961), Frank (1995), Lawrence (2004), Murray (2014), nephew Murray (2012), niece Phyllis(2004)Wayne (2000), great niece Jen(2008). Stanley is survived by his brother Ted (Russell), nieces/nephews Myrna Owens (Kent),Glenn Irwin( Carolyn), Pat Greenwell (Bill), Rob Yankoski (Jan), John Yankoski (Karen), Jim Yankoski (Peggy), Rick Yankoski, (Kim), Betty Ann Arbuthnot, Vicky Yankoski , Joe Yankoski (Emily), John Yankoski (Barb), Beryl Upward(Chris). Stanley spent his last few years at Russell Personal Care Home, surrounded by his neighbours and friends. He was pleased when his brother Ted came to stay there with him in recent years.
