Stanley Yont Obituary

Stanley Wilford Yont was born on January 10, 1943 in Regina, Sask. Stan was the third child of 4 siblings of William (Henry) and Eileen Yont.

Stan attended his schooling in Marchwell and Langenburg High School. When he was 16 he decided to start trucking. You would find Stan hauling gravel and petroleum during his trucking career. He drove truck for the family business, WH Yont and Sons and then joined Blanchard Trucking. His trucking career extended over 25 years of his life on the road hauling fuel. He loved the road but hated being away from his growing family. His working career was extended at the K2 Potash Mine working underground maintaining the water levels until his retirement.

Retirement for Stan was a dream come true, lots of time to do nothing but Golf! He found his true passion during the summer months when he would golf every day and live out at Carlton Trail.

Stan’s personality allowed him to create friendships that lasted a lifetime. His quick wit, his off the cuff jokes, his funny stories and his hardy laughter was infectious to all.

Stan held a lot of pride for his grandchildren, although his deteriorating health limited him, he tried his best to watch whatever sports they were involved in. If he couldn’t make it physically he was logged onto Facebook waiting patiently for Lorin to Live stream.

Stan was diagnosed with COPD which limited his breathing, and his physical capabilities. This struggle had limited his abilities and this past winter after Darlene’s diagnosis a decision was made to move him into extended care.

We as a family believe Dad’s sudden passing was a direct result of a broken heart and not his health condition. After 60 years of being together their love for one another was now eternal.

Darlene and Stan are survived by their children, grandchildren and a great grandchild; Tracey (Boyd), Ryder, Chase Haas; Sheri (Paul), Colton (Abbey), Geena and Karlee Screpnek; Bruce (Alicia), Taylor (Tristen), Great Grand-daughter Lainey, Calem, Holden Yont. Brother Ellis Yont, sister Heather Polowich, brother in law Derry Dowd (Shirley) and many nieces and nephews.

They join in heaven, Darlene’s parents George and Mary Hiller, Brothers Clarence (Rose), Mervin (Anita), Gordon (Donna), Doug (Joan), and sister Marilyn Tice (Phil); Stan’s parents Henry and Eileen Yont, sister Myrna Dowd, brother in law Stan Polowich and sister in law Lorraine Yont.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of Langenburg Home Care and the Langenburg Centennial Care Home for their remarkable care throughout Darlene’s illness and Stan’s extended stay.
