Vera Rene Betke

Vera was born November 11, 1918 to Hugh and Mary Patterson of the Echo district (north of Marchwell) and she passed away May 15, 2022 in the Langenburg Care Home at the age of 103 ½ years old.

She took her schooling at Echo (country school).  She married Alfred Betke on September 14, 1947 and they had one son, Cliff. Vera spent most of her life on the farm.  She milked cows, enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and in later years enjoyed bingo.

Alfred and Vera moved to a senior’s unit in Langenburg in 2001.  Alfred passed away in May 2004, but she remained in the unit by herself till 2016.  In December 2016 she entered Esterhazy Care Home for 2 ½ months and then moved to Langenburg Care Home in March 2017 where she resided till her passing.

Vera was predeceased by her parents; her husband Alfred; 4 sisters Lilly, Edna, Ellen and Bertha; 2 brothers Bud and Reg; 9 brothers-in-laws and 4 sisters-in-laws.

She leaves to mourn her son Cliff; daughter-in-law Nova; 2 grandsons Kevin and Clint (Carla); 1 grand-daughter Keri (Jared); 4 great grandsons Levi, Ashton, Boston and Kamden; 2 great grand-daughters Kadeance and Bella; 2 sister-in-laws Gwen Betke and Marian Geres; and numerous nieces and nephews.
