It is with profound sadness that Verne and I (Ella) announce the passing of Verne’s mom ,Virginia, on November 4, 2021 at the Russell Personal Care Home.
Mom lived a long life of 96 years. As one knows back then life was not easy. She had a family of three children Garry, Verne and Judy. It was not easy, as Garry was taken by a car accident in 1967 and Judy passed away at a young age also. Nothing could be harder then losing one’s children. Then Virginia lost her husband, Alick, on April 27, 1993.
Virginia worked hard. She was a terrific cook and had a cafe in Spy Hill. Then they moved to farm at Marchwell, Sask. She was very crafty, always busy making something. She passed this on to her son Verne. He also works hard like his mom.
Virginia did some travelling to other countries. Mom did a lot of volunteering at the Russell Thrift Shop, Ladies Aide for her church, and at the senior hall even calling bingo if one could imagine. She got her driver’s licence also after Alick passed. Virginia was always up for a challenge.
She lost all her brothers and a sister, Idene. Left to cherish her memory is Marion Geres, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you goes out to the cousins for visiting her in her last days, Twilla, Joanne and Susan. It was much appreciated.
So, there is Verne and I left. She has a grandson Bobbie and a granddaughter Joylene.
